Case study : create an wellness app
I’m going to present you my Wellness app. I have a client, the wellness National Institute, and I have to update their image — create a new visual system that reflects their innovative and refreshed approach to wellness.
The facts are the health and wellness industry has been experiencing immense disruption due to advancements in technology.
The omnipresence of the smartphone has spawned a massive market for mobile health and wellness apps. Healthcare-related mobile apps are becoming popular at an astonishing speed, as indicated by the fact that 69% of US smartphone owners track at least one health indicator using them.
UX research
So I do some market research, In 2007, there is 10 millions wellness coach in the world (PWC)
Revenue in the Fitness segment is projected to reach US$21,859m in 2021.
54% are willing to share personal information if it will be used to create a personalized experience.
77% of customers have a more favorable view of brands that ask for and accept customer feedback.
After that I made a brand analysis which is consist to analyse the market and compare with competitors.
And the feature analysis which is consist to compare the feature that The Wellness institute has already with competitors, this is a way start to think about the interviews.
I made a mapping position with competitors like Adidas training, Nike training club and Sworkit coach personnel. Indeed, The national Wellness institute is currently a non-social and traditional application, but his goal is to become an urban and social company.
After I have run 5 interviews with 2 sportives women and 3 men. They describe their sport routine, their habits. They talk about their paints points like lack of time, injury, wish to be more challenged by the app and their motivations like to be more healthy, good looked, and wellness.
I gonna talk about the persona. This is Fred the Fit-boy. He is 30 years old and he is commercial in Paris, he loves sport and he is passionate about soccer. Fred needs a way to share his results with his friends and an app to personalized his training. He wants some autonomous but diversity in his practice of sport. And he is frustrated because he wants to do some sport every day but he has a lack of time because of his work.
The user Journey map of Fred is simple. Fred is deciding to practice then he goes on the website to see choice. He is disappointed because he find nothing really special for him but he decides to go on a training session but nothing is extraordinary during his training. He very upset and frustrated after his training.
To prioritize functionalities, I did the Moscow Method where I put as a must have a personalized training, a vocal coach, and an option to share his training with his friends or coach.
And the Canva proposition method. I define pain points and gains to propose some relievers and gains creators.
2. Ideate
Then I realized a user flow where Fred goes to the app fill out some question about him and goes to personalized workout to finish by share his results with his coach.
I present you low-fi and mid-fi prototype.
After that I did the visual competitors analysis As you can see below :
Then I did my mood-board and choose some attribute like Sportive, Energetic, Positive, Active, Healthy. And when I tested the mood-board that exactly the words that I choose that chosen the participants so I don’t change my mood-board.
Then I made style tile and colours which are very important in the construction of high fidelity prototype.
Finally, the high-fidelity prototype :
