Yogi online project.
During the first COVID-19 lockdown in France, a lot of people had to stay at home. Therefore, some of them started doing sports, including yoga, from home.. One of the platforms already available for yoga online was My Yoga Connect.
My Yoga Connect had to adapt to newcomers : a smaller subscription offer has been set up, and a “Home made” section has appeared on the website to welcome videos from new teachers going remote. The number of subscriptions went up.
During the second lockdown, companies were less prone to allowing employees to work remotely or take vacation time; while they still can’t do sports outside of their home, our yogis have less time to explore lessons platforms.
Does it affect Yoga Connect and how ? Can we improve their presence online ?
Empathize
First, we develop a deep understanding of the problem with a business analysis. We start by doing a feature analysis.
In this features analysis, we can see that all of the competitors have an online presence. Our main brand Yoga connect miss live classes while competitors have it.
We made also a brand analysis.
In this brand analysis, we can see that the target audience is different between Yoga Connect and his competitors. Indeed, other competitors target women and men and even family. We can see 3 different types of platform like influencer platform, online platform and studio.
Following these analyzes we proceeded to the mapping of competitors.
As you can see, we choose two axes: "homemade tools vs. pre recorded professional" and "traditional/authentic roots vs luxury/polished".
Yoga Connect is between the traditional one and the luxury one but totally pre recorded professional.
After that, we made some users researches by means of interviews (5 total). we interviewed :
- Jordy 27 yo
- Celia 23 yo, product owner
- Alex 34 yo, physical education teacher who has practiced yoga for 2/3 years
- Helene 27yo, yoga teacher
- David, yoga teacher
From these interviews, we can highlight 4 big themes which are Negative Covid, Positive Covid , Expectations, and Behavior. And many categories like logistics, lack of connection and best practices. Negative ans Positive covid mean consequences for these situations.
After this analysis of comments from interviews, we made a User persona based on our own interviewers.
Picky yogi Patricia is our Person. She is 26yo and she is product owner. She has many goals like improving her practice of yoga, discover new types of yoga, and optimize her time. She has also many frustrations like loses time, doesn’t want to pay for lessons she won’t use and want to know the teacher’s background.
Then, we use the User journey map to see the journey of our Persona and find some opportunities to make her life easier when she is connect to Yoga Connect.
Our user journey map highlights the user journey of Picky yogi Patricia. She starts by decide to do yoga, to connect to the site, to plan a video, she had some difficulties to plan a video because of the filter then to play a video, she have to fill in her information and credit card. Then she starts the video and enjoy her moment but there is no teacher to correct her. Finally, she was a little bit disappointed and doesn’t know if she will repeat the experience.
2. Define
We can establish a problem statement which is : Picky Yogi Patricia needs a way to attend advanced yoga classes whenever she wants, because now that covid is over, she has no time to lose on inadequate classes.
And three How might we like :
How might we create a way for Picky Yogi Patricia to have her criteria for level and time constraints taken into account ?
How might we create a way for Picky Yogi Patricia to have feedback on her moves during class ?
How might we create a way for Picky Yogi Patricia to choose the advanced level teacher of her dreams ?
We choose the first one.
We proceeded to the M.o.s.c.o.w method results which allows us to prioritize for helping to understand and manage priorities.
After the site mapping, we did a user flow “as it” to highlights problem in the user journey.
As you can see, there are many steps before being able to watch a lesson on Yoga Connect.
3. Ideate
We did some brainstorming with low fi to do our Wireframing prototype.
We change the filter to be able to make a search easily.
We can test our prototype and modify it a little bit thanks all our comments made by Users.
And this is our High fid prototype.
